馬鈴薯可以防止鏽斑。在半個馬鈴薯上撒些鹽，用馬鈴薯沾了鹽的那面來擦拭生鏽處，鏽斑自然會消失。這是因為馬鈴薯沾上顆粒狀的鹽，用來擦拭或摩擦就會產生如同砂紙的效果，把金屬物品磨亮。
